The Golden Age of Bureaucracy is Nigh
“Crazy Opposite World”… is a phrase that must be on the lips of the left as they ponder the seemingly counterintuitive data shown in this chart. They might wonder:
“How can tax cuts possibly decrease the deficit? ”
“What’s the deal with jumbo shrimp, peace forces, the pretty ugly and government organizations?”
There is a large difference between comparisons of the socialistic spending tendencies of the the left and those of the right. The claims that “not only did Bush increase spending but he also cut taxes!” are rendered moot because
“Yesterday, the Office of Management and Budget announced the deficit is set to decline by $100 billion. The reduction is being driven by a surge of tax revenues. In fact, this fiscal year, tax revenue collections will set a record by increasing $246 billion (13 percent.)”
It seems that the big government dreams of the left are facilitated by the tax cuts of the right. Imagine the golden age of bureaucracy that would surely flourish if the Democrats could swallow their pride and admit that raising taxes can have the opposite of the intended effect. Maybe it’s already happening
“During his first term, Bush struck an implicit bargain with Congress. As long as the president got his programs, the lawmakers could spend what they wanted ? and they did. Federal spending went up by one-third.”
Unfortunately Bush brings the worst of both political worlds. Spending like a drunken Franco-bureaucrat while adopting the military and moral beliefs of the neocons. What a disaster.
